Future changes to the State Pension Age

The State Pension Age (SPA) is currently 66 for men and women, but it’s due to rise in stages.

Under the current timetable, it’s increasing from 66 to 67 between April 2026 and April 2028. By April 2028, therefore, there will be a 10-year gap between the SPA and the Normal Minimum Pension Age (the earliest age at which most pension savers can access their pensions), because the NMPA is also rising from 55 to 57.

The change in SPA from 67 to 68 is scheduled to take place between April 2044 and April 2046, although this timetable is currently being reviewed and could change.

You can check your SPA on the official government website: www.gov.uk/state-pension-age
